The Republic of Madagascar has initiated a tender for a 25-MW photovoltaic (PV) project, according to an announcement on Wednesday by World Bank Group's Scaling Solar programme.

The African island nation's Ministry of Water, Energy and Hydrocarbons (MEEH) has issued a request for pre-qualification (RfQ) for the project that will be located near the capital of Antananarivo. The tender includes battery storage requirements in addition to solar generation.

The deadline for applications is January 10, 2018. Pre-qualified bidders after this stage will receive the request for proposals (RfP).

The tender adds to Scaling Solar tenders in Zambia and Senegal, as well as Ethiopia, RfQ for which was also announced on Wednesday.
