Japanese trading firm Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002) and Italian energy group Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) have teamed up to jointly evaluate power generation project opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region.

The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), a press statement by Marubeni showed Monday.

“This MoU is aimed at continuing discussion on joint efforts toward potential business opportunities in fast-growing power sectors in Asia and the Pacific region, especially in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia,” the firm noted.

At present, Asia accounts for some 40% of Marubeni’s 10-GW installed power generation capacity.

Enel and Marubeni have both conventional and renewable power assets.
