Nicaragua's Energy Chamber president, Cesar Zamora, said the country expects investment of some USD 700 million (EUR 661.2m) in renewable projects this year.

According to local media reports, the plans involve about ten projects with sources ranging from hydropower, biomass, wind, solar and geothermal.

Meanwhile, discussions have started on updates to the transmission grid with the goal to be able to export power to other Central American countries in 2017.
