to-the-point: Peru to take KfW loan for renewables programme

Peru's finance ministry has approved a loan of up to EUR 40 million (USD 43.8m) from German development bank KfW for the second phase of a renewable energy and energy efficiency programme in the Andean country.

The funds will be disbursed for 12 years, with a three-year grace period and a fixed interest rate to be determined at the signing of the loan contract, according to a decree published on Tuesday.

The programme will be implemented through Corporacion Financiera de Desarrollo SA (Cofide), the Peruvian development bank that has financed mini hydroelectric plants, wind farms, waste water treatment facilities and an ethanol plant, among other projects.
