to-the-point: Polaris completes well drilling for Nicaragua geothermal plant

Canada-based renewable energy company Polaris Infrastructure Inc (TSE:PIF), formerly Ram Power Corp, has completed drilling the first of three new production wells for its 72-MW San Jacinto geothermal project in Nicaragua.

Preliminary measurements suggest a moderately productive well, the company said on Wednesday. There will now be a 30 to 60 day heating-up period during which temperature data will be collected. After that the company will have thermal recovery and move to production testing.

Drilling for the second well is expected to start in early January and to be completed in March. Once additional data has been collected from the two new wells, Polaris will decide on the timing and location of a third, according to the announcement.
