South Korea will extend a USD-33.3-million (EUR 29.1m) loan to Nicaragua for a solar energy project in 164 rural communities, local media reported over the weekend.

Under the agreement, the Caribbean country will also put USD 3.3 million into the project, bringing the total investment to USD 36.6 million, according to the reports.

In all, the recent agreement is expected to help improve the quality of life of more than 10,000 families spread over the 164 communities, located in the autonomous regions of the Caribbean and the department of Rio San Juan.
