Saudi Arabia’s Alfanar Group has signed a pact with the Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB) Ltd for the construction of a 100-MW solar complex in the Asian country.

The Riyadh-based company and EGCB will set up the capacity as a joint venture project, according to a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last week, EGCB announced. The project will involve the installation of two 50-MW facilities at Sonagazi, in the country’s Feni district, which will be the site of the largest economic industrial zone in Bangladesh.

Plans for the scheme were first announced last October.
