to-the-point: Sri Lanka plans 100-MW floating PV tender Sri Lankan dam. Author: simon***.

Sri Lanka is preparing to hold a tender for a 100-MW floating photovoltaic (PV) project in the Maduru Oya reservoir, local media reported, citing an official statement.

International bidders will be invited to compete for a contract to build the power plant on about 4% of the reservoir’s surface area. Meanwhile, the government has also set aside funds for solar panel manufacturing training.

The floating solar concept is gaining popularity in Asia. China recently put into operation a 200-MW solar plant at fishery reservoirs, touted as the biggest park of that kind globally.
