Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it has already repurchased DKK 68.5 million (USD 9.9m/EUR 9.2m) worth of shares under its new buyback programme.

The company announced the plan to repurchase up to DKK 1.12 billion worth of own shares on Thursday. On the very same day it bought back stock valued at a total of DKK 35.2 million, while on Friday it repurchased shares with a combined value of DKK 33.4 million.

Vestas noted that the move is aimed at adjusting its capital structure and meeting the obligations arising from employee share option programmes or other share allocations to Vestas staff.

The programme will close on December 31, 2015.
