Chinese solar products maker Wuxi Suntech Power Co Ltd said Tuesday it has won the bid to equip the rooftop of a governmental building in the island country of Sri Lanka with its STP265-20/Wem modules.

The photovoltaic (PV) array will be deployed for the New Government in Colombo city, according to the statement. The 378 Suntech polycrystalline solar modules to be installed at the site are expected to generate some 110 MWh of electricity per year, enough to offset approximately 110 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.

The panels are fit to withstand unfavorable weather conditions such as the tropical monsoon climate in the Indian Ocean, the manufacturer explained.
