Tokyo Gas Co Ltd (TYO:9531), through a joint venture (JV) with Narita International Airport Corp (NAA), has commenced the construction of a 2-MW rooftop solar power system at the airport in Narita City, Chiba prefecture.

Green Energy Frontier (GEF), the 50/50 JV, is installing the solar system atop NAA’s Eighth Cargo Building.

The JV has a goal of installing 180 MW of solar power generation capacity by the end of fiscal year 2045, decarbonising all the energy supplied to the airport by 2050.

Subsidiary Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Inc (TGES) is in charge of the design, construction, and maintenance of the solar power generation facilities, while GEF will supply the output to NAA, Tokyo Gas noted.
