Topsoe tech to be used in Aussie green ammonia projects

Australian energy infrastructure projects developer Allied Green Ammonia Pty Ltd has chosen Danish decarbonisation technology supplier Topsoe to supply equipment for a green ammonia plant in the Northern Territory.

Topsoe’s dynamic green ammonia technology, DynAMMO, will be used to set up the facility in Gove. The plan envisages the output of the facility to be exported to South East Asian markets where demand for e-fuels continues to grow, according to a statement released today.

The plant, which targets a capacity of 2,500 metric tonnes per day, is expected to be commissioned in the last quarter of 2028 or early in 2029.

In addition, the two companies are negotiating the potential provision of an undisclosed quantity of Topsoe’s Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC) to produce green hydrogen so as to increase the energy efficiency of Allied’s ammonia production.

“We are confident that the geographical location and existing infrastructure in Gove in combination with the most energy efficient hydrogen and green ammonia technology will lead to the lowest levelised cost of green ammonia production in Australia,” said Allied’s founder and managing director Alfred Benedict said.
