Astronergy secures 1 GW of solar module orders in Algeria
Sep 03, 2024 14:46 CESTTotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTE) and Algerian state-owned energy company Sonatrach have inked an agreement to cooperate in the development of renewable energy projects in Algeria with a focus on solar power, hydrogen and low carbon energies, the French energy group said on Monday.
More specifically, the two companies will partner to develop projects to solarise exploration and production sites for oil and gas. They will also explore the potential for renewable, low-carbon hydrogen for the export market as well as launch a research and development (R&D) programme for low carbon energies and the energy transition.

The cooperation in the field of renewables is just one of three partnership agreements signed by the two companies over the weekend.
TotalEnergies and Sonatrach have also agreed to increase the gas production at two jointly owned fields in southern Algeria as well as to boost liquefied natural gas (NLG) deliveries from Sonatrach to TotalEnergies.
The Algerian state-owned company is partnering also with Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) on solar projects across the North African country to support the decarbonisation of oil production.
