Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corp (TYO:7203) is looking to team up with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) to research new climate-friendly technologies, including solar power generation in vehicles and hydrogen use.

Toyota, Toyota Central R&D Labs and AIST are in talks to initiate research in a number of fields, including vehicles with solar power generation technology and technologies for hydrogen production, transportation and use as energy.

The parties will also consider research into developing energy scenarios to reach net zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and the establishment of energy urban networks based on renewable energy.

AIST and Toyota will also consider including other partners to help implement the results of their research.
