TPI Composites to expand wind blade manufacturing in Mexico

US wind turbine blade maker TPI Composites Inc will expand its operations in northern Mexico with a second factory in Ciudad Juarez, local media reported Tuesday after a visit to the site by Chihuahua state's economy secretary, Manuel Russek Valles.

The manufacturer will invest USD 50 million (EUR 44m) to expand its cost-effective delivering of wind blades amid the competitive advantages and infrastructure of Ciudad Juarez, Thomas Castle, senior vice president for North American wind operations, said.

The new facility will create 2,400 jobs in two stages in the next two years.

Since its reopening in 2014, TPI's facility in Ciudad Juarez has been delivering products mainly for the US and Mexican markets. The company also operates factories in the US, China and Turkey.
