US consulting, engineering and construction management firm TRC Companies has taken over Blue Oak Energy, which provides engineering services for commercial and utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.

With headquarters in Sacramento, California, the acquired business has a team of engineers that are licensed in more than 30 US states. They serve utilities, municipalities, developers and independent power producers (IPPs), as well as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors.

Over the past 17 years, Blue Oak Energy’s engineers, designers and consultants have delivered more than 6 GW of solar projects through permit and construction. They have also supported over 12 GW of solar projects through development, according to the announcement.

“By acquiring Blue Oak Energy, TRC expands its value to renewable energy developers as a full-service delivery team supporting projects from concept to operation,” said Christopher Vincze, Chairman and CEO of TRC.

TRC already offers solutions that address all phases of project development, including site selection and evaluation, environmental planning and permitting, engineering and design, due diligence and transaction support.
