German energy company Trianel and Austrian firm Selina Photovoltaic GmbH have established a joint venture to develop ground-mounted solar projects in Austria.

The new company, Trianel Energieprojekte Austria GmbH (TEA), will be based in Vienna and led by managing directors Egmont Froehlich and Herbert Muders, Trianel said on Thursday.

The joint venture will develop conventional ground-mounted installations as well as agri-PV systems. The facilities are intended to contribute to municipal electricity supply. As part of the plan, landowners who provide the land required for the projects will receive lease payments. Participation in energy yields is also possible.

Selina specialises in the planning, construction, and operation of large-scale PV systems for businesses. The joint venture will also benefit from Trianel's project development expertise.
