Singapore lines up 1.4 GW of solar imports from Indonesia, ups goal
Sep 06, 2024 12:53 CESTChinese solar panel maker Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599) has teamed up with Singaporean groups Jebsen & Jessen and LAPP Holding Asia to develop solar projects in Southeast Asia amid an expected surge in demand in the region.
JJ-LAPP, a joint venture between the two Singaporean companies, and Trina Solar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the collaboration, they said on Wednesday. Under the plan, the partners will target projects in the commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility-scale segments.
The partners will bet on Trina Solar’s experience in supplying photovoltaic (PV) modules, trackers and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems for solar projects, while JJ-LAPP will deliver other critical components such as cables and connectors. Their collaboration, which also covers the operation and maintenance of solar systems, comes on the heels of existing partnerships in Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, mostly involving rooftop installations.
JJ-LAPP expects to double the volume of PV modules ordered from Trina Solar in the current year because of the MOU. In 2022, the company equipped 21 MW of plants with Trina Solar’s hardware.
