An affiliate of China’s Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599) has proposed to build an 80-MW solar farm in northern Serbia, according to permitting documents available for public consultation.

Belgrade-based entity Solar Power Plant Delta is seeking to install arrays of photovoltaic panels on a piece of land spanning 160 hectares (395.4 acres) outside of the city of Kikinda, and make use of the local flatlands and favourable weather conditions, it said in the documents.

The project also includes plans to have the solar panel field double as an agri-voltaic system, with grasses for animal grazing or fruit and vegetables planted underneath the structure, the promoter said.

Solar Power Plant Delta is 100% owned by Trina Solar (Luxembourg) Overseas Systems Sarl, according to the Serbian business registry. The Chinese solar panel maker and project developer registered the Serbian entity in August 2022.
