Wholesale distributor Marubeni Australia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the supply of 1.5 GW of the Vertex N solar modules manufactured by Chinese solar equipment maker Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599).

The two companies, which have been partnering for more than 10 years, have agreed for Trina to supply its flagship product range to the Oceania region over a five-year period, a press release said today.

The contracted Vertex range incorporates the n-type i-TOPCon cell technology including multi-busbar (MBB) for greater light absorption, high-density packing to maximise the surface area and ultra-smooth cell edges. The panels will be used in projects across islands in the Pacific.

With the order, Marubeni Australia will support Oceania’s Energy Transformation Roadmap that targets 109 GW of active solar power generating capacity by 2050.
