Chinese solar panel maker Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599) will supply 500 MW of modules to the Yemeni market under a five-year partnership agreement with Al-Raebi for Trading, its authorised distributor in Yemen.

The newly-signed deal, announced on Tuesday, follows a 40-MW n-type modules contract from last year. Deliveries are ramping up as this year Trina will provide Al-Raebi with 100 MW of Vertex N modules for residential, commercial and industrial, or utility applications.

The Chinese manufacturer is also bringing its latest technology to the region. Its newly upgraded n-type series offers module efficiency of 22.4% and power of 605 W and 695 W. Trina said the Vertex N 695W modules rolled off the production line in its Huai'an factory in Jiangsu province last week after n-type modules rolled off its' Changzhou factory in January.

According to Abdullah M. Raebi, general manager of Al-Raebi, "[s]olar energy has rapidly gained popularity, and became the foundation of Yemen's electricity supply, more than 70% of households are now using solar energy as their primary source.”
