China’s Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599) has teamed up with two compatriots to realise a 283-MWdc solar photovoltaic project in South Africa.

The solar modules maker said on Wednesday that it has partnered with power solutions provider China Energy International Group and infrastructure builder China Gezhouba Group to install the Mooi Plaats ground-mounted solar farm in South Africa’s Northern Cape Province.

The Mooi Plaats project is financed by French renewable energy firm EDF Renewables alongside South Africa’s local financial institutes, Trina Solar said.

Trina Solar will bring to the project 416,325 modules from its NEG21C.20 Vertex N series, which boast an efficiency of up to 23.2%. Construction is expected to last 22 months.

A day earlier, Trina Solar spotlighted the success of its solar tracker business unit TrinaTracker in Brazil. TrinaTracker supplied its Vanguard 1P trackers for the 520-MW Santa Luzia solar project, which currently undergoing commissioning.
