Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTUS presidential candidate Donald Trump has pledged to immediately put an end to offshore wind projects if he wins the upcoming election in America, claiming that this is “the most expensive energy” and that “wind mills” kill both birds and whales.
Trump, who famously tried to sue the developer of a Scottish offshore wind farm almost 10 years ago for ruining the view from his golf course, made this vow at a recent campaign rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.
“You see these things [wind turbines] all over the place, they destroy everything, they’re horrible and the most expensive energy there is. They ruin the environment. They kill the birds. They kill the whales. [...] We are going to make sure that that ends on day one. I’m going to write it out in an executive order. It’s going to end on day one,” Trump stated.
In addition, he pledged to terminate current President Joe Biden’s “insane” electric vehicle mandate, also on day one.
At present, the US aims to deploy 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
