Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTA vessel carrying 14 turbines for the 50-MW Minas de Huascachaca wind farm project in Ecuador arrived to the Puerto Bolivar port on Monday, the Ecuadorean ministry of energy and non-renewable natural resources announced.
The project is the work of state-owned power generation company Elecaustro SA. Elecaustro, which is currently progressing through construction at a site in San Sebastian de Yuluc, Loja province.
Elecaustro invested about USD 90 million (EUR 79.6m) in the initiative, using own funds and support from development bank Banco de Desarrollo del Ecuador BP (BDE).
Minas de Huascachaca is set to become Ecuador's largest wind farm. According to the ministry, works are 80% complete and the wind farm could be operational in the first half of 2022.
Once online, its 3.57-MW turbines are expected to generate around 130 GWh per year, the ministry added.
