Queensland Hydro picks contractors for 2-GW pumped storage project
Sep 18, 2024 6:05 CESTZimbabwe plans to add 2,000 MW of solar power generating capacity with the help of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), local media reported, citing the African nation’s president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The two sides last week signed an agreement that outlines the staged development of the project. The first phase will see the addition of 1,000 MW of solar capacity.
The deal follows a visit by President Mnangagwa to the UAE, where he met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the two discussed the plan.
The goal of the project is to help Zimbabwe solve its power deficit. The president hopes this will happen within the next 18 months.
