PPAYA Ltd, a UK virtual marketplace for green energy, said on Thursday it has sealed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 36-MW Greengairs East wind farm currently under construction in Scotland.

The wind park, to be located between the villages of Greengairs and Caldercruix in North Lanarkshire, is being built by Muirhall Energy in partnership with WWS Development. The facility is expected to be completed in April 2023 and supply power to almost 33,000 homes.

The deal for the Greengairs East wind project comes after PPAYA signed a PPA for the 46-MW Crossdykes wind development in Scotland with Muirhall Energy in December 2021.

Crossdykes and Greengairs East are the two largest subsidy-free wind projects in the UK.

Since its launch in 2021, the London-based start-up has signed up wind, hydro, solar and anaerobic digestion facilities with a combined capacity of nearly 500 MWh.
