German energy group Uniper SE (ETR:UN01) today unveiled plans to install 280 MWp of solar parks in Hungary under a partnership with Budapest-based developer Callis Zrt.

The photovoltaic (PV) portfolio, being Uniper’s first one in Hungary, consists of six projects that have reached the ready-to-build stage. With all permits already in place, the plants should be brought into operation in 2026 and 2027.

Under the plan, the next step to move forward with the schemes will be to conclude all comprehensive preliminary studies in 2023-2024.

Apart from being involved in the six projects, Uniper said it is taking part in the ongoing tender for network capacities in Hungary, aiming to secure the grid-connection for its future projects in the country.

Duesseldorf-based Uniper recently embarked on a transformation programme aimed at making its business greener. The scheme will see it spend more than EUR 8 billion (USD 8.58bn) through 2030 invest in solar and wind farms, with the goal of having an installed generating capacity that is 80% zero-carbon by 2030. Coal-fired power production is planned to cease by 2029 at the latest, with the company targeting to be completely carbon-neutral by 2040.
