Univergy Solar, part of Spanish-Japanese renewable energy group Univergy International SL, announced that it is launching a green hydrogen division, eyeing projects in both Spain and overseas.

The company said that it will develop two 1-MW hydrogen projects and six filling stations in Spain. The two electrolyser projects will located in the regions of Castile and Leon and Castile-La Mancha in central Spain, while the planning for the deployment of stations has just started.

Univergy Solar is also looking into hydrogen opportunities elsewhere in Europe, Japan and Latin America, saying that it has started evaluating projects.

The company plans to use alkaline and PEM electrolysers for hydrogen production, and fuel cells for projects sited at isolated facilities and special applications.
