Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTThe government of Zambia is awaiting proposals by May 18 in a Request for Qualification (RfQ) for up to 100 MW of solar projects under the country’s renewable energy programme.
The deadline was announced by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
The competitive round was launched earlier this week and is conducted under the GET FIT Zambia programme, aimed at implementing its first renewable energy feed-in tariff (FiT) strategy. German development bank KfW will manage the process on behalf of Zambia’s Ministry of Energy.
According to the RfQ requirements, published on the website of the FET ZIT Zambia, each proposal should have a capacity of at least 20 MW, while each applicant will have the right to participate with up to two projects.
A maximum of 20 projects and bidders will be shortlisted to submit technical and financial bids in a Request for Proposal (RfP), the next round of the selection. As previously announced, the proposed projects have to be situated in proximity to selected substations within Zesco’s network in the country.
Under the GET FIT Zambia initiative, launched in 2017, the South African nation aims to add 200 MW of small-scale renewables in three years.
