US renewables developer Energy Development Partners (EDP) has obtained a definitive concession to build and operate a 160-MW/200.2-MWp solar farm in the Dominican Republic.

The firm, through local arm EDP Energias Renovables Dominicana SA, signed the concession agreement with the Dominican Republic’s national energy commission CNE this week, both parties announced.

The concession is limited to a period of 25 years after the signing of the agreement, it is stated in CNE’s resolution to grant the concession, although the commission said in its press release that the term is 30 years.

The document gives EDP the right to build its Bani solar farm in the namesake municipality in Peravia province. Bani Solar is currently the largest solar facility approved in the Dominican Republic, EDP CEO Frank A. Epps said in a LinkedIn post after the signing ceremony.

EPD is based in Providence, Rhode Island. Its shareholder and partner is German solar energy developer ib vogt GmbH.
