US Geothermal makes progress in California, Guatemala

US Geothermal Inc (NYSEMKT:HTM) said Thursday it could add between 55 MW and 80 MW of annual geothermal capacity thanks to advancing projects at home and in Guatemala.

The company has successfully completed a flow test programme on the three largest production wells at the WGP Geysers site in Sonoma County, California. These have confirmed the existence of about 30 MW of steam. US Geothermal expects to have the reservoir report by the end of this month.

In Guatemala, a subsidiary of the US firm is working on the El Ceibillo project, the modified schedule for which was recently approved by the energy ministry. The amended concession contract is expected before the end of August. US Geothermal expects to be able to produce 25 MW-50 MW of electricity from El Ceibillo.
