Saudi Arabia, Bahrain explore 2 GW solar project - report
Aug 30, 2024 12:04 CESTMay 21, 2012 - US solar power system provider Petra Solar Inc has agreed to provide smart solar technology for a 5-MW pilot solar project in Bahrain.
The project is a result of a partnership between American alliance companies, the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), state-owned Bahrain Petroleum Co (Bapco), the Electricity and Water Authority, universities, the industrial sector, and the government, Bahrain News Agency reported today. Caspian Energy Holdings is also involved in the project.
The solar power plant will supply power to the municipality of Awali, the University of Bahrain and other areas in Bahrain, according to the news agency. The project is the first of a number of initiatives by NOGA to diversify sources of energy in Bahrain. More projects are expected in Bahrain upon its success, the agency said citing energy minister and NOGA chairman Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza.
