Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTIndependent power producer (IPP) Globeleq will get some USD 1.15 million (EUR 1m) in grant financing to conduct a feasibility study for a 100-MW wind project in Zambia.
The funds will be extended by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Globeleq announced last week. The company’s proposal is for a 40-turbine wind park that will be connected to the national grid by a single-circuit overhead transmission line. The plant will be located in the province of Muchinga, northeastern Zambia.
More specifically, Globeleq Zambia Wind Ltd will use the financing to complete the technical analysis for the project, create the final design of the plant and the needed equipment for its construction. The study itself will be conducted by DNV GL Energy USA Inc, a unit of Norway-headquartered testing and advisory company DNV GL. Globeleq, in turn, will provide financial, development and project management planning services.
According to Globeleq, the project is in line with Zambia’s objective to diversify its power mix and also backs the goals of Power Africa and the Electrify Africa Act supporting Africa’s energy sector.
