Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTThe US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) on Thursday announced a grant to Ghana's Ministry of Energy for a feasibility study to provide energy access to some 67 communities in Afram Plains South via minigrids.
USTDA and the government of Ghana plan to use the Export-Import Bank of the US financing to deploy the minigrids. The feasibility study will be conducted by a US firm that will be competitively selected by Ghana's energy ministry. It will analyse the energy demand of the Afram Plains South communities and design solar-based minigrids. The study will contribute to the government of Ghana's target of universal energy access by 2020.
"In addition to supporting the goals of Electrify Africa, this project will create market access for U.S. businesses," said Thomas R Hardy, USTDA’s Director, Congressional and Public Affairs.
