French packaging group Albea agrees 12-MWp solar off-take deal
Sep 19, 2024 5:38 CESTFrench renewable energy producer Valeco, owned by German energy company EnBW AG (ETR:EBK), has recently started construction work on the largest floating solar power plant in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
The Montpellier-based firm is building the 19.8-MW Clave solar power system in Durance, where it already has other renewable energy projects.
The Clave scheme involves the installation of almost 46,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels on a 28-hectare artificial lake. The particular lake was created as part of the sandpit extraction activity of Belgian industrial materials miner Sibelco, which owns the land.
The floating solar plant will have the capacity to produce enough electricity to supply some 12,700 inhabitants.
