Finland's Valmet Corp (HEL:VALMT) said Thursday it will supply a biomass-fired boiler plant to Elenia Lämpö Oy in Finland, thanks to which the latter will raise ot 80% the share of renewable fuels in Hämeenlinna city's district heat production.

The value of the order was not disclosed.

Valmet, a supplier of process technologies for the pulp, paper and energy industries, will deliver a HYBEX boiler plant with a capacity of 35 MWth, utilising a bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) technology. An electrostatic precipitator and a flue gas condenser included in the project will increases heat capacity by 10 MW. Assembly work will commence start in the autumn of 2019. The start of operations at the boiler plant is targeted in 2020.

The boiler plant at the Vanaja power plant will run on wood-based fuels mostly, such as forest residues, sawdust and bark from side streams of the woodworking industry.

"This is a repeat boiler order to the same power plant, which shows the customer's trust in Valmet's biomass-fired HYBEX technology for heat-only applications," pointed out Frank Ligthart, head of Heat and Power Plants at Valmet.
