Singapore’s Vena Energy has attracted the renewables arm of Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen) as a partner in a solar project in the Philippines with a direct current capacity of 550 MW.

Vena said on Wednesday that it has signed an investment agreement with MGen Renewable Energy Inc (MGreen) for the Bugallon Solar Power Project in the municipality of Bugallon in the Pangasinan province.

Construction works are scheduled to start this year, while the site is expected to go live by the fourth quarter of 2025. Once commissioned, the facility is expected to be one of the largest solar farms in the country.

“This investment not only brings MGen closer to our goal of achieving 1,500 MW of attributable renewable energy by year 2030, but also deepens our partnership with like-minded organisations who believe a sustainable energy future is a collective responsibility of everyone,” MGen’s president Manny Rubio noted.
