Latin America-focused renewables developer Verano Energy has launched construction of a 200-MW solar farm in Mendoza province, Argentina, expanding its presence in the region after establishing projects in Chile, Peru and Colombia.

The San Rafael solar farm is expected to be up and running by the end of 2025, Verano Energy said in a LinkedIn post on Monday.

The firm said it had fully developed the project, working through all the phases, including conducting environmental impact assessments and electrical studies. Since interconnection capacity in Argentina is limited and accessed through tenders, Verano Energy partnered with an unnamed “leading renewable energy company” in the country to get the plant connected, according to the post.

The San Rafael site offers advantages such as a strategic location with high radiation, favorable terrain conditions, easy accessibility, and a major substation within the property, Verano added
