Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said it has booked an order to supply its 144 MW of its machines for the Khangela Emoyeni wind farm project in Western Cape, South Africa.

The customer, African Clean Energy Developments (ACED), ordered 32 units of the V163-4.5 MW wind turbines under a contract encompassing the supply, installation and a ten-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement.

Vestas expects to deliver the turbines by the first half of 2025. Commissioning is planned for the first half of 2026.

Khangela Emoyeni is a project led by ACED in a consortium with several stakeholders. Once in operation, the wind farm will generate electricity for miner Richards Bay Minerals (RBM), a Rio Tinto Plc (LON:RIO) company, in South Africa.

ACED previously ordered the same turbine model from Vestas for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm development, also located in Western Cape.
