Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTDanish firm Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Thursday confirmed that it will deliver 36.3 MW of wind turbines in the third quarter of 2015 for a project in Jamaica’s Saint Elizabeth parish.
The wind turbine maker will supply, install and commission 11 of the V112-3.3MW machines under an order by US project developer BMR Energy. The contract also includes civil and electrical works for the construction process.
Vestas expects to commission the plant in the first quarter of 2016. Once completed, the wind park will be Jamaica’s largest and will be able to generate over 120 GWh per year. It will sell its whole output to local utility Jamaica Public Service Co (JPS) under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
On Monday, BMR Jamaica Wind Ltd announced it had secured a USD-62.7-million (EUR 55.7m) financing package to back the construction of the wind park.
