Vestas entering Bolivia with 108-MW wind order

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has received an order for a 108-MW wind project in Bolivia that marks the company’s entry in this market.

Bolivian state-owned firm ENDE (Electricity National Company) has hired Vestas to supervise site construction, deliver a MV Collector system and supply and install 30 units of its V136-3.45 MW turbines in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode. The machines will be erected as part of three separate wind parks, of 40 MW, 14 MW and 54 MW, which will make up the Santa Cruz project.

The San Julian, Warnes and El Dorado wind farms will be built in the municipalities of Cocota, Warnes and Cabezas in Santa Cruz department, where only thermoelectric energy plants operate at this point, according to the announcement.

The project will be supported financially by Danida, Denmark’s development cooperation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vestas anticipates to deliver the turbines in 2019 so that the wind parks are commissioned in the next year.
