Vestas North American order intake decreases to 1.6 GW in 2011

Jan 12, 2012 - Danish wind-turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) got orders for 1.617 GW in North America in 2011, down from an all-time high 1.883 GW in 2010, according to a regional announcement by the company.

Orders in the USA were for an overall 1.186 GW and Canadian deals totalled 431 MW in 2011.

Vestas was awarded orders to supply 812 turbines in North America in 2011. It installed 30 wind projects and has another 20 due for construction in 2012.

The Danish player has also got renewed service contracts for 16 wind-farms in North America with an overall capacity of 729 MW.

In 2011, Vestas's overall order intake amounted to 7.4 GW or EUR 7.3 billion (USD 9.3bn), which was in line with the guidance for 7-8 GW, the company said earlier in January.
