OX2 taps CJR Renewables to build 99.2-MW wind farm in Romania
Sep 18, 2024 15:06 CESTRezolv Energy, a clean power platform backed by UK investment firm Actis, and UK renewables investor Low Carbon, have selected Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) to build and equip a 192-MW wind farm in southeastern Romania.
The wind turbine manufacturer has been awarded a full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the project, the developers said on Monday. The firm and unconditional order concerns a wind farm they will build as the first phase of their 461-MW Vifor wind project in the Balkan country.
Vestas’ scope of work will include the supply, delivery and commissioning of 30 units of its V162-6.2 MW turbines in a 6.4-MW operating mode. Additionally, the Danish firm will take care of the project’s civil and electrical works and will service the hardware under a 15-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) agreement.
The Vifor park will be located in the county of Buzau, north-east of Bucharest, and will be installed in two phases. Vestas expects to ship the turbines for Phase One early in 2025 and bring the plant online by the end of the same year.
Vifor’s Phase One, which was authorised by the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) in May, last month obtained EUR 291 million (USD 312.3m) in debt from a lending group of eight banks. The 192-MW project has in place five commercial power purchase agreements (PPAs).
