Viaspace finalises design of 2-MW biogas plant in Papua New Guinea

The engineering and design work has been concluded for Clean Energy Solutions Pacific’s (CES) 2-MW biogas power plant in Papua New Guinea, Viaspace Inc (OTCBB:VSPC) said last week.

California-based Viaspace was awarded the job in May. It was in charge of the design of the biogas facility and its grass receiving areas, storage, fuel feeding, primary and secondary anaerobic digesters and generators, among others.

The power plant was designed by Viaspace to cover the daily load profile for the local utility customer. The size of the Giant King Grass plantation, which brings the feedstock for the biogas plant, was also carefully calculated.

Viaspace’s Giant King Grass is a high-yield, non-food, low-carbon energy crop. It is used for direct combustion for power generation and for biogas production using anaerobic digestion. The company provides turnkey solutions of 1 MW to 3 MW based on anaerobic digestion, and larger power plants of 10 MW to 35 MW.
