Vietnamese enterprise Thai Binh Group has opened a 23-MW solar farm at the Special Economic Development Zone in Mariel, Cuba, the Cuban ministry of energy and mining said in a post on Twitter.

Thai Binh Green Power Investment Corporation, alongside Dinh Tan Constructions, built the TBD solar farm on a 33.6-hectare site in less than a year and connected the plant to the national grid, local media outlet El Artemiseno reported.

According to the report, Thai Binh Group plans to reach 150 MW of clean energy in Cuba and continue expanding the capacity afterward.

The new solar farm will help Cuba save around 10,000 tonnes of fossil fuels per year, energy minister Vicente de la O Levy was quoted as saying.
