Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTFrench renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) on Monday announced the commissioning of the 3.8-MW Savane des Peres solar park in French Guiana, which has an integrated battery storage component.
The French company owns the project together with Banque des Territoires, part of France's Groupe Caisse des Depots. The partners have in place a 25-year contract with a secured tariff starting from the commissioning of the power plant.
The photovoltaic (PV) park, located at the site of a former landfill, is equipped with a 2.6 MW/2.9 MWh energy storage facility using lithium-ion batteries, which will stabilise the solar production for local households.
Voltalia won the project in a tender held by France’s Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy in 2016. Construction activities on the scheme were initiated in January 2019.
