Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) has expanded its branch network with the opening of a new office in Albania, the French renewable power plants operator said on Monday.

The office in the capital city of Tirana will operate with 23 employees, mostly Albanians. According to the company, the new site with local presence will support its further growth in the Balkan country.

Paris-based Voltalia has been operating on the Albanian market since 2018 by providing turnkey solar plant construction services for third-party customers. Later, it started developing its own photovoltaic (PV) and wind projects there and currently has 140 MW solar farms under construction and 100 MW of contracted PV projects.

Earlier this year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) awarded Voltalia with EUR 29 million in debt to support the installation of the 140-MW Karavasta solar farm in the Fier area of southwestern Albania. The plant is due to go online in the second half of 2023.
