Finnish technology group Wartsila Corp (HEL:WRT1V) on Monday said it has signed a contract to install 90 MW/90 MWh of energy storage in Southeast Asia.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded by an existing customer whose name was not disclosed.

Wartsila is set to supply hardware and software to support the integration of electricity generated by renewables. The order comprises GridSolv Max, the company's standardised solution that provides modular storage for the core hardware assets, including batteries, a safety and fire system, and inverters, alongside the proprietary energy management software platform GEMS.

Wartsila's technology accounts for more than 9,000 MW of installed capacity in Southeast Asia. The total includes 2,000 MW under EPC contracts, of which energy storage makes up about 300 MW, according to the statement.
