Weekly round-up of renewable energy PPA news (Nov 12-18)

A ski resort in the US and a food distribution company in Spain agreed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for electricity from renewable energy sources last week. Several new tenders were announced, including Finland's first, and we also wrote about a PPA for tidal energy project by Minesto near the Faroe Islands. Below is Renewables Now's list of news on PPAs and tenders awarding long-term contracts.

-- Solaria, Repsol sign 52-MW solar PPA

Spain's Solaria Energia y Medio Ambiente announced on Thursday it has signed a 52-MW solar PPA with Repsol SA (BME:REP).

-- Argentina launches 3rd round of RenovAr aiming at 400 MW

The same day, Argentina launched the third round of its RenovAr renewable energy auction programme, aiming at a total of 400 MW of new installed capacity.

-- Finland opens mixed renewables tender for 1.4 TWh

The Finnish Energy Agency on Thursday announced a mixed-technology renewable energy tender, seeking proposals for 1.4 TWh of wind, solar, biomass, biogas and wave power.

-- Iberdrola signs solar PPA with Spain's Uvesco

Spanish power utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) said it will supply renewable electricity to local Uvesco Group under a long-term PPA signed by the companies.

-- EDF, Shell ink PPA for part of 500-MW solar complex in California

EDF Renewables North America will sell 100 MW of power from the 500-MW Palen solar project in California to Shell Energy North America US LP (SENA), it was announced on Wednesday.

-- Voltalia signs 64-MW wind PPA with Brazilian food co BRF

French renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) the same day said it has signed a PPA for 64 MW of wind power with Brazilian food company BRF.

-- Engie tie-up inks 60 MW of solar PPAs in Senegal

French utility Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) and its partners in 60 MW of solar projects in Senegal have signed PPAs with local electricity company Senelec.

-- NTPC issues tender for 1.2 GW of solar in Maharashtra

Indian power group NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) is seeking proposals for 1.2 GW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power capacity in the state of Maharashtra.

-- Lincoln Clean to supply Vail Resorts with power from 230-MW wind farm

Vail Resorts Inc (NYSE:MTN) will buy electricity from Lincoln Clean Energy’s 230-MW Plum Creek wind farm in Nebraska, the US ski resorts operator announced on Monday.

-- Minesto to install tidal energy kites off Faroe Islands

Swedish marine energy developer Minesto AB has entered into an agreement with electric utility SEV for the installation of two DG100 tidal energy converters in the waters surrounding the Faroe Islands. SEV has committed to buy the output of the two subsea kite devices under a PPA.
