A ski resort in the US and a food distribution company in Spain agreed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for electricity from renewable energy sources last week. Several new tenders were announced, including Finland's first, and we also wrote about a PPA for tidal energy project by Minesto near the Faroe Islands. Below is Renewables Now's list of news on PPAs and tenders awarding long-term contracts.

-- Solaria, Repsol sign 52-MW solar PPA

Spain's Solaria Energia y Medio Ambiente announced on Thursday it has signed a 52-MW solar PPA with Repsol SA (BME:REP).

The same day, Argentina launched the third round of its RenovAr renewable energy auction programme, aiming at a total of 400 MW of new installed capacity.

The Finnish Energy Agency on Thursday announced a mixed-technology renewable energy tender, seeking proposals for 1.4 TWh of wind, solar, biomass, biogas and wave power.

-- Minesto to install tidal energy kites off Faroe Islands

Swedish marine energy developer Minesto AB has entered into an agreement with electric utility SEV for the installation of two DG100 tidal energy converters in the waters surrounding the Faroe Islands. SEV has committed to buy the output of the two subsea kite devices under a PPA.
