WERPO intends to build 100 MW of sea wave power devices in Grenada and is currently arranging a visit to the island country in order to discuss the plan in the public and private sectors.

Blackbird International Corp (OTCMKTS:BBRD), the sole owner of the Israeli sea wave power firm, said in a press release on Tuesday it plans to form a local partnership for the purpose of installing a 10-MW plant at first. As part of the project’s second stage, the company would seek to expand Grenada’s sea wave power capacity to 100 MW.

BBRD noted it has already held talks with top ranking government personnel through its partner in the Caribbean -- Antigua & Barbuda-based trader Seedsowers Investors and Developers Co.

Grenada, which suffers from an energy crisis due to the lately constant El Ninue seasons and storms, is trying to reduce its reliance on imported fuels and concentrate on renewable energy generation. So far, the focus of the island country has been on wind turbines, but BBRD believes that its sea wave power technology is “the only suitable recourse".

Just recently, BBRD announced it has secured a credit line to cover its financial needs for the next two to three years. It, however, did not disclose the size of the loan.
